HAPPY NOGGIN
Since earning his Ph.D. at
Cornell, John Hannon has had the honor of teaching MBA and Undergraduate Entrepreneurship & Strategy courses at seven world-class universities.
He also has significant personal
entrepreneurial experience in the Education, Hospitality, Sports, and
Entertainment industries myself. In
fact, he always tells his students that producing films and owning a motel have
given him the best management education he could have ever imagined - since he was
personally responsible for every aspect of the business from strategy to sales to marketing to accounting to finance to operations to HR!
Dr. Hannon has a proven track record as an
excellent teacher, researcher, and company builder. He consistently earns top 10% teaching evaluations - and he frequently
has the highest rated MBA courses. He has authored twenty plus academic papers including eight that were
published in top-tier peer-reviewed journals. He has also
developed and written several entrepreneurship case studies.
Recently, he created
several new and innovative multimedia resources. One is Boom Productions, an entrepreneurship-focused feature
film (100 min). In addition, he has produced
over twenty short films (5 min each) for McGraw-Hill Education. Professors in Business Law and
Entrepreneurship classes around the globe are currently using all of these films in
their classes.
As the Founding Director of
the University at Buffalo Entrepreneurship Program, he had the pleasure of
teaching and impacting 30% of the program's students over 10 years. Nearly 20 MBA driven businesses were birthed, many of which consistently generate over a million dollars
of revenue annually. Not surprisingly,
numerous international students went back to their home countries (including Singapore,
Brazil, Canada, & China) and started successful businesses there, too.
One highly innovative US
company that was started from scratch by students he taught and mentored had a $45 million exit (with no venture capital obligations). Another, where he placed his students as
employees #3 & #4, was recently acquired for $220 million. He has also advised and assisted dozens of successful
university-driven spin outs.
Given Dr. Hannon's deep experience as a professor in
academia, as an entrepreneur, and as an executive in the private sector (with Fortune 500
firms), he is adept and comfortable in any environment: from classrooms to boardrooms
to laboratories to farms to factories.
